Samuel A. Tisherman, MD, FACS, FCCM

Dr. Tisherman is the Associate Director of Shock and Suspended Animation at the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research in Pittsburgh, PA. He has been involved in laboratory research on mild hypothermia after cardiac arrest, mild hypothermia after hemorrhagic shock, profound hypothermia for preservation, and delayed resuscitation from exsanguinating hemorrhage. He is initiating a clinical trial of Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation (EPR) using profound hypothermia for trauma victims with cardiac arrest from exsanguination. Dr. Tisherman is a prolific writer and publisher in scientific journals and has received numerous professional honors.
